OB Hospitalist (Laborist) Locums Opportunity - Springfield, OhioQuick Highlights

• Coverage Need: Ongoing weekend coverage, 2-3 weekends per month

• June/July Starts: Active Ohio license required

Schedule

Weekend Coverage

• Friday 7:00 AM - Monday 7:00 AM
• 24-hour in-house Laborist coverage

Upcoming Need

• Immediate and ongoing coverage
• Potential June coverage available approximately two weeks after credentialing
• July 17-19
• Ongoing need for 2-3 weekends per month

Required QualificationsBoard Certification

• Board Certified OB/GYN (Required)

Licensure

• Active Ohio license preferred
• Providers willing to obtain an Ohio license will be considered
• Active Ohio license required for June/July start opportunities

Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• Active DEA

Practice Setting

• Hospital-based Laborist coverage
• Approximately 90% Labor & Delivery
• Supporting an established OB/GYN team
• Current call ratio: 1:4
• No additional OB/GYN physician coverage during locum shifts
• EMR: Epic

Facility Overview

• 205-bed hospital
• 34 Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Triage beds
• 4 physicians on staff
• 1 APP per 12-hour shift
• Onsite laboratory and ultrasound services
• Level II Nursery
• Over 1,300 deliveries annually

Patient & Case MixObstetrics

• 60% low-risk pregnancies
• 40% high-risk pregnancies

Gynecology

• Mix of emergent gynecologic cases
• Average of 5 GYN surgeries per day

Nursery

• Approximately 4 admissions per day

Scope of PracticeRequired Obstetrical Skills

• Management of low- and high-risk pregnancies
• Fetal heart rate interpretation (NST/CST/FSE)
• OB ultrasound performance and interpretation
• Level I/screening ultrasounds
• Viability assessments

Labor & Delivery Procedures

• Routine vaginal deliveries
• Low forceps deliveries
• Cesarean section decision-making and procedures
• Breech deliveries
• Multiple gestations
• Placental abruptions
• VBAC management
• Repair of 3rd- and 4th-degree lacerations

Gynecologic Procedures

Locum providers should be comfortable managing emergent gynecologic cases, including:

• Ectopic pregnancy management
• Hemorrhage cases
• Open and laparoscopic surgery
• Tubal ligation
• Lysis of adhesions (LOA)
• Chromotubation
• Oophorectomy
• Ovarian cystectomy
• Advanced gynecologic surgery as needed

Additional Coverage Expectations

• Locum providers will perform circumcisions
• Coverage includes emergent OB and GYN situations
• Providers may also manage medically indicated scheduled inductions when patients meet gestational-age or clinical criteria

Support Staff

• Labor & Delivery nurses
• Advanced Practice Providers
• Midwives (availability may vary during 24-hour shifts)
