Job Description:

The Advanced Care Unit (ACU) is an inpatient unit in which there are two Pods for a total of 29-beds. There are four negative pressure rooms for patients who are admitted with diagnosis of TB or r/o TB. Types of patients to be admitted to this unit include intensive care step-down patients, trauma patients, cardiac patients, and neurological patients both medical and surgical. ACU is the certified stroke center for the hospital. The unit is equipped with 29 telemetry monitors.

The Clinical Nurse is a registered nurse (RN) who partners with and advocates for patients/families/significant others to provide physical, emotional and spiritual support which impacts patient outcomes in a safe environment. The RN functions in a versatile role that demonstrates professionalism and promotes excellence and autonomy in the practice of Nursing. The RN utilizes the nursing process in conjunction with evidence-based principles to care for a diverse caseload of patients within the department scope of service. The RN serves as guide, healer, collaborator, teacher, leader and sentry. The RN collaborates with and guides care delivered by the inter-professional team. The RN is accountable for compliance with the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, Nursing Code of Ethics and applicable regulatory standards.

Education

Minimum Level of Education Required: Associate degree in Nursing

Preferred educational qualifications: BSN Preferred; BSN Completion or Professional Certification may be required. RNs with a minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience may elect to forgo the BSN requirement and sign a Professional Certification MOU which must be obtained within 3 years of hire.

Licensure/Certification/Registration

* Valid Ohio RN license
* Current CPR certification required at the time of hire

Experience

Minimum Level of Experience Required: No prior job-related work experience

* Effective interpersonal and communication skills
* Basic computer knowledge
