Hi-Tek Manufacturing is searching for an experienced Tool Design
Engineer who wishes to advance his or her career in advanced

safety above all else. Shift: Monday thru Friday 8am to 5pm
Salary/Exempt position Hi-Tek is a Drug-Free Workplace and conducts
pre-employment drug and background screening and random drug
screening. Essential Duties and TasksReporting to the Tool Room
Supervisor, the Tool Designer designs complicated dies, tools,
gauges, jigs, and fixtures. Works from process sheets and parts
prints. Studies parts prints and operation sheets to design tooling
for maximum economy of operation consistent with machine
limitations, quantities to be produced and close tolerance
specifications. Requires thorough knowledge of manufacturing
methods and machine shop practices, sufficient knowledge of
mathematics to solve design problems, the ability to originate
ideas and incorporate them into the design. May utilize
computer-aided design techniques to perform applicable design work
Essential Tasks:Design simple/straightforward tooling that is as
practical and cost-effective as possible while meeting the needs of
the process and the cost/timing commitments made to customers. Able
to visualize in 3D and communicate using spatial reasoning.Maintain
working knowledge of tool design within 3-D Graphics. Plan, conduct
research, and implement engineering on complex tooling
projects.Create and maintain BOMs, part numbers, prints and other
technical documentation necessary to manufacture and operate
tooling.Participate in product and tooling design reviews and
critique designs from a technical perspective, including Design for
Manufacturability. Coordinate with a cross-functional team on
tooling projects. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
of tooling processes to reduce production downtime, improve
efficiency, manufacturing, product design and suppliers/customers.
Convey information clearly and effectively through formal and
informal documents. Support other Engineers on significant
projects. Any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill
our mission, and abide by our organization's valuesFollow all
Hi-Tek policies and procedures, including the use of proper
PPEEducation and Experience:B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or
equivalent discipline preferred. Equivalent experience in a
directly related role will be considered in lieu of a degree. 5 or
more years of experience in tool design with an emphasis on tool
holding fixtures. Proficiency in Siemens NX.Knowledge of GD&T
dimensioning and SPC. Experience with developing new tooling
designs or major design upgrades for various types of tooling.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and
statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry
and trigonometry.Must be a United States Citizen, or a US Permanent

requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting may be
required. Moderate noise (e.g., business office open space with
computers, phone, printers, light traffic) Perform under AS9100
standards 8am-5:00pm Monday thru
